Overview

Subsidy Control – How is UK subsidy control and EU State aid impacted by the Windsor Framework and what does this mean for me?

By Stephen Moore, Head of Subsidy Control Advice Unit

The Windsor Framework means that the UK’s Subsidy Control Act or the EU’s State aid rules or both, could apply to ‘subsidies’ awarded to ‘enterprises’.  This session will provide an overview of both regimes, explain key terms, procedures and roles, with a practical focus on what policy and programme developers need to do to ensure compliance with UK and EU law.  Attendees should include anyone who will be involved in developing new policies, strategies, projects, funds or schemes that may provide financial support to businesses or any other persons that are involved in economic activity that entails offering goods or services on a market.  The session will also be useful for anyone working in a partner sponsor branch or a departmental oversight, governance or audit function.

ignorantia juris non excusat – don’t get caught out!
