Consultation on Redress Regulations For Truth Recovery Standardised Payment Scheme

Overview

The Inquiry (Mother and Baby Institutions, Magdalene Laundries and Workhouses) and Redress Scheme Bill ('the Bill') passed its Final Stage in the Northern Ireland Assembly on 30 June 2026, with Royal Assent expected in Autumn 2026.

Following this, the 'Redress Regulations' will be brought before the Assembly for consideration. Once this secondary legislation is passed, this will enable the Redress Service to be established and the redress scheme to open. 

Why are we seeking your views?

The purpose of this consultation is to seek views on the proposed policy for the Redress Regulations which cover the procedural details of the redress scheme.
