Consultation on an Aviation Policy
Overview
The Department for the Economy is consulting on the development of an Aviation Policy, recognising the critical role that air connectivity plays in supporting economic growth, inbound tourism, trade and regional balance. Given the north's geographic position and the absence of practical road or rail alternatives, strong and resilient air connectivity is essential to maintaining links with key domestic and international markets.
This consultation seeks views on the proposed policy direction and the role government can play in supporting the development of the aviation sector. Responses will help inform the development of a coherent, evidence‑based aviation policy that aligns with the Minister’s economic priorities, including raising productivity, supporting good jobs, promoting regional balance and advancing decarbonisation.
