Arts Creative Hub - Community Consultation Survey - South Belfast UV Area

Closes 2 Dec 2025

Opened 18 Nov 2025

Overview

Introduction

As part of its wider landmark capital plan for the South Belfast Urban Village area, the Urban Villages Initiative is supporting a proposal from Fitzroy Presbyterian Church to redevelop the B1 listed former School of Music Building in Donegall Pass, Belfast, to operate an Arts Creative Hub.

The Arts Creative Hub aims to provide affordable community access to arts-based learning and events and shared space. The hub will offer a range of arts-based programmes and activities for individuals and groups; bringing people together to engage, learn and benefit from a wide range of themes. It will also address a lack of studio space for hire in the area by accommodating up to 20 social enterprise artists presenting opportunities for a cooperative approach and collaboration on arts-based subjects. The proposal is also that a large room on the ground floor of the building will be open for community use and will host activities driven by local people. This would include space for a local flute band.

The restored building will enhance the look and feel of the area, while its activities will bring people together, strengthening the local community and supporting economic growth. It will help create a stronger sense of identity and make the area feel safe and more welcoming.

We would like to hear your opinion - let us know if you think there is a need in the community for a Arts and Community Hub like this. The survey will take no longer than 5 minutes.

Note: ‘Urban Villages’ is a programme of The Executive Office (TEO) strategy to improve good relations outcomes and develop thriving places.
