Free Period Products scheme feedback survey

Overview

Period products are essential items for personal care, which address a normal biological need.

Period inequality (meaning the lack of access to these essential items) can negatively impact dignity and contribute to poor mental health and wellbeing.

In recognition of this, the Northern Ireland Assembly passed the Period Products (Free Provision) Act (Northern Ireland) in May 2022, which aims to ensure that period products are available free of charge to anyone who needs them.

As part of the implementation of this legislation, Libraries NI now provide free period products in all public libraries (static and mobile) – known as the Free Period Products scheme. They are available to be collected by everyone who needs them. Also, anyone can pick up products for someone else who needs them.

Why your views matter

This survey seeks to gather views on the Free Period Products scheme. We are interested in understanding:

• public awareness of the scheme,
• the experiences of those who have used it, and
• any suggestions for improvement.

Your feedback will help us evaluate if the service is meeting people’s needs and raise awareness so that no one misses out.

Information on how and why we collect and safeguard the information you provide through this feedback survey will be included in our privacy notice and can be made available, if required. 

This survey is aimed at those aged 16 and over. Separate engagement is planned for those aged under 16 who have used the Free Period Products scheme.

The survey will take ten minutes to complete, and your answers will be kept confidential.
