EASY READ: Truth Recovery - Public Consultation

Closed 19 Sep 2024

Opened 27 Jun 2024

Overview

In November 2021, the Executive agreed to set up a statutory public inquiry to investigate Mother and Baby Institutions, Magdalene Laundries and Workhouses; and their pathways and practices. It was also agreed that financial redress should be paid to victims and survivors.

This decision was based on recommendations made by the Truth Recovery Design Panel in its ‘Truth, Acknowledgement and Accountability’ report.

This consultation seeks views on the focus of the inquiry and the redress scheme to be established via legislation.

Further detail on the background of the programme is contained within consultation paper at the TEO website
