OPONI Period product consultation

Overview

The Police Ombudsman’s Office is preparing to make period products available free of charge at our premises. This is in line with new legislation (Period Products (Free Provision) Act (Northern Ireland) 2022), which recognises that period products are essential items for personal care and should be available to everyone who needs them, regardless of their economic status.

We are consulting with our staff and members of the public on what type of period products should be available and where anyone who needs period products should be able to obtain them.

Our consultation runs for 9 weeks and closes on Friday 3 May 2024.
