Impact Assessments: Reforming Civil Legal Services (Financial) Regulations

Overview

The Department is committed to understanding and considering the potential impacts of the proposals set out in the consultation paper Improving Value and Impact by Reforming Merits and Scope of Legal Aid. EMBED DOCUMENT

This questionnaire provides you with the opportunity to submit your views on the draft impact assessments and whether they have accurately identified the likely effects of the proposals on individuals, communities, organisations and access to justice.

We welcome comments on any potential positive or negative impacts, including those relating to equality, human rights, children's rights and wellbeing, rural communities, and other groups who may be affected differently. We also invite respondents to suggest any additional impacts, supporting evidence, or mitigating measures that should be considered.

Your responses will help ensure that the Department's assessment of the proposals is informed by the widest possible range of evidence and experience.

You do not need to answer every question. We encourage you to provide evidence, examples, research, lived experience or other information that may assist the Department in understanding the potential implications of the proposed reforms. All responses will be carefully considered alongside other evidence gathered during the consultation process.

Why your views matter

The Department of Justice is committed to understanding the potential impacts of the proposals set out in this consultation and to seeking the views of those who may be affected by any changes to legal aid merits and scope. We are keen to hear from individuals and organisations on the potential equality, human rights, children's rights and other impacts of the proposals, as well as any measures that could be considered to mitigate adverse effects.

This survey provides stakeholders with an opportunity to comment on the  draft impact assessments, including whether any impacts have been overlooked and whether additional evidence or mitigations should be considered. The full consultation document and the impact assessments are available on the Department of Justice website. ENTER DOJ URL
