Mentor Award 2025

Closes 8 Nov 2024

Opened 23 Sep 2024

Overview

The Mentor Award 2025 is awarded on the basis of a Mentor's exceptional contribution to their workplace and their dedication to contributing to their Apprentices' professional development and learning.

The judges will consider how they aid their Apprentices' integration into the workplace; their development of professional and technical skills; and, the Mentor’s personal positive contribution to the business.

Who can enter?

Employers, whose 2024 L2/3 Apprentices or L4+ Higher Level Apprentices, have their off the job training element funded by the Department for the Economy, may enter their Apprenticeship Mentor. Please note that former Mentor of the Year winners will not be considered by DfE for the 2025 competition.

Who can submit an application?

Nominations must be made by the Training Provider, with input from the Employer, but both must complete the nomination form.

Training Providers must be contracted by the Department to deliver the ApprenticeshipsNI or Higher Level Apprenticeships programmes.

Employers should engage with their Training Providers to determine which (up to three) of their mentors they should shortlist for the 2025 competition.

A maximum of three joint Mentor nominations between an Employer and Training Provider will be accepted.

DfE will carry out an initial eligibility check, followed by a sifting process, where only three applicants in each category will be shortlisted to become finalists in the competition.

What are the judges looking for?

The judges will base their decision on the Mentor’s contribution to the company they work in and the Apprentices they support.
