Increased socialisation of connection costs in the distribution electricity network
Overview
The Department for the Economy (DfE) is consulting on changes to the policy in the North for charging connectees for any costs for reinforcement to the distribution electricity network triggered when a person applies for a new or enlarged connection to the distribution electricity network. The consultation considers the degree of socialisation which is appropriate in light of the Executive's Energy Strategy, the Climate Change Act, and a just transition.
Why your views matter
The energy transition is a key part of our future, welfare and economic success. Connection charges affect both connectees, and the wider population of electricity consumers. Responses to the earlier joint DfE and UR Call for Evidence were extremey valuable in understanding the issues that are important to consumers and connectees.
DfE now wishes to assess consumer views on the policy proposals developed from the Call for Evidence responses.
