Higher Level Apprentice of the Year Award 2025

Closes 8 Nov 2024

Opened 23 Sep 2024

Overview

The Higher Level Apprentice of the Year Award 2025 is given on the basis of a Higher Level Apprentice’s exceptional contribution to their workplace, and their dedication to excellence in their professional development and learning.

What are the judges looking for?
The Department for the Economy will carry out an initial eligibility check, followed by a sifting process, where only the top three applicants in each category will be shortlisted to become finalists in the competition.

The judges are looking for evidence of dedication to, and excellence in, the Higher Level Apprentice’s performance; achievement; and progress.

Who can be nominated?
Higher Level Apprentices can be of any age, but must have been on the ApprenticeshipsNI programme in 2024, working towards a full Apprenticeship framework at Level 4 or above.

Former Higher Level Apprentice of the Year winners will not be considered by the Department for the Economy for the 2025 competition.

Who can submit a nomination?
Nominations must be made by the Training Provider on behalf of the Employer and the Higher Level Apprentice. There are sections within the form for input from the Employer and the Apprentice, which the Training Provider should coordinate the completion of.

Training Providers must be contracted by the Department for the Economy to deliver the ApprenticeshipsNI programme.

A maximum of three Apprentice nominations per Training Provider will be accepted.

Employers who wish to nominate their Apprentices should engage with their Training Providers to determine which of their Apprentices the Training Provider should put forward for the 2025 competition.
