Apprenticeship Champion of the Year Award 2027

Overview

We are excited to introduce the new Apprenticeship Champion of the Year Award.

This award recognises an individual who has shown exceptional dedication to promoting apprenticeships and supporting apprentices to succeed. Open to employers, training provider staff, mentors, managers and other apprenticeship advocates, it celebrates those who go above and beyond to champion apprenticeship opportunities and outcomes.

Nominees should demonstrate a strong commitment to raising awareness of apprenticeships, supporting apprentices in their development, engaging employers and stakeholders, and driving positive change through innovation, leadership or advocacy. Successful nominees will have made a clear and lasting impact on apprentices, employers, or the wider apprenticeship system, inspiring others through their passion and commitment.

The judges will consider how they aid their Apprentices' integration into the workplace; their development of professional and technical skills; and, the Mentor’s personal positive contribution to the business.

Who can enter?

We would like to invite nominations from Training Providers, whose 2026 L2/3 Apprentices or L4+ Higher Level Apprentices, have their off the job training element funded by DfE at your organisation.  We wish to recognise the achivement and contribution that the training providers offer to support apprentices' throughout their learning journey.

Who can submit an application?

Nominations must be made by the Training Provider, you may nominate a fellow staff member or colleague.

Training Providers must be contracted by the Department to deliver the ApprenticeshipsNI or Higher Level Apprenticeships programmes.

A maximum of three champion nominations should be submitted by any Training Providers.

What are the judges looking for?

The judges will base their decision on the Apprentice Champion’s contribution to the training organisation they work in and the apprentices they support.
