Electrical Switchgear Academy with VERTIV - Application Form
Overview
The Electrical Switchgear Academy with VERTIV is supported by the Department for the Economy (DfE) and delivered in partnership with North West Regional College (NWRC).
There are 16 places available at the Academy with the potential for a job with VERTIV for all 16 participants.
Assured Skills Academies are a pathway to industry-leading training before entering the workforce or changing career. The Academy is an eight-week training course providing practical knowledge and real-world experience required to work in the sector. Training will include five weeks intensive training at NWRC Springtown Campus, Springtown Road, Derry~Londonderry and three weeks on-site training at VERTIV in Campsie Industrial Estate, Derry~Londonderry.
Successful participants in the Academy work towards a Level 2 entry level qualification in Electrical Installation (EAL) for work in the electrical switchgear sector. Participants are guaranteed a job interview for a permanent role as a Junior Panel Wirer with VERTIV. Offers of employment will be solely at the discretion of the company following the interview.
Participants will receive a weekly training allowance of £180 for the duration of the Academy, as well as help with travel and childcare expenses (if eligible).
Who can apply?
No previous experience is needed but you must:

be at least 18 years old on Monday 2 February 2026 and
-
have a right to work and to undertake Assured Skills Training in the UK at the point of application and not be disqualified from doing either by reason of their immigration status. Proof of this will be required in order to progress to interview.
Applicants should be aware that the company may apply additional right to work criteria at point of employment and a job offer is not guaranteed.

Information Session, Interview and Training dates
Monday 12 January 2026 at 6pm – Information Session will be held at VERTIV, 1 Fruit of the Loom Drive, Campsie Industrial Estate, Derry~Londonderry, BT47 3XY
Tuesday 13, Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 January 2026 – Academy interviews in-person at VERTIV, Campsie Industrial Estate, Derry~Londonderry.
Monday 2 February to Friday 27 March 2026 – Academy training (8 weeks)
Five weeks of training at NWRC takes place weekdays, 9am to 5pm. Three weeks of training takes place at Vertiv, 8 am to 5 pm, Monday – Thursday and 8 am to 2.30 pm on Fridays. Applicants must be available for the entire duration of the training period. Any pre-scheduled commitments should be listed at question 21 on the application form.
