SportMaker Awards 2020

Closed 10 Jul 2020

Opened 18 May 2020

Overview

Sport Northern Ireland is giving the sporting community an opportunity to say “thank you” to local coaches, officials, volunteers and projects, through their 2020 SportMaker Awards.

The Sport Northern Ireland SportMaker Awards recognise the outstanding contribution of coaches, officials, volunteers and projects over the previous 12 months and the role they play in encouraging people to benefit from the power of sport.

Sport Northern Ireland acknowledges that whilst the majority of sports ceased structured activity in March 2020 due to COVID-19, many SportMakers continued to play a vital role in supporting and developing others and we are extremely keen to learn more about the innovative and creative methods which were used to do so through the nomination process.

Nominations can be made by members of the public across six award categories for coaches, two award categories for officials, two award categories for volunteers and one category for SportMaker projects.

Why your views matter

Everyone working and involved in sport know that coaches, officials and volunteers play an absolutely vital role in getting people active and supporting them to pursue and achieve their sporting goals.

The talent, commitment and passion of our sporting workforce here in Northern Ireland is outstanding, but because their work happens behind the scenes or off the field of play, they all too often go unnoticed.

That’s why Sport Northern Ireland is so delighted to be providing a platform for the public to recognise and celebrate the success and dedication of those who make sport happen every day, at community, club and elite level, through this year’s SportMaker Awards.
