Review of Architecture and the Built Environment Policy - Stakeholder questionnaire
Overview
The Architecture and the Built Environment Policy for Northern Ireland was published in June 2006 and was endorsed by all Departments in the NI Executive.
The policy vision was ‘An attractive, healthy, safe and sustainable built environment which functions efficiently and enriches the experience of living for everyone in Northern Ireland – through good architecture, landscape and urban planning our cities, towns and neighbourhoods can be made more inspiring and welcoming.’
The current policy can be found here: Architecture and the Built Environment Policy for Northern Ireland.
The policy recognises the positive contribution that good design in the built environment makes to Government aims such as regeneration, economic and community development, sustainability, improved health and well-being as well as built and natural heritage. The policy is now 19 years old now requires renewal to take account of climate change, planning reform and the restructure of Government Departments following RPA (Review of Public Administration).
The Department for Communities welcomes your participation in this questionnaire to evaluate the performance of the current policy and identify themes and priorities for a renewed policy.
The questionnaire is anonymous and should only take around 15mins to complete. 11 of the questions require commentary around what an A+BE Policy can do for you, what Government can do better, design thinking, planning, procurement, construction and implementation. Each free answer is limited to 3700 characters. If you would like to complete the survey more than once (to capture different priorities in relation to your discipline and job role), please ensure you provide an email address at the end of the survey.
The questionnaire will remain opened until Friday 14th March 2025 at 5pm.
