Discretionary Support Reform: Public Consultation

Overview

This consultation sets out the Department for Communities proposed changes to the Discretionary Support Scheme. Discretionary Support provides financial support to those on a specified low income, in times of an emergency or crisis; the new legislation will continue to deliver that policy intent.

The Department’s aim is to ensure that the Discretionary Support Scheme will continue to operate as intended, in that it should provide financial assistance to the most vulnerable in a time of crisis and should align with the Department’s Warm Healthy Homes and Fuel Poverty Strategies.
