Determining the Need for the Proposed Sports Recovery Fund
Overview
In May 2021, the NI Executive announced additional COVID-19 funding and an allocation of £5m for Sports.
In addition to the recent ‘COVID-19 – One Year On Sporting System Survey to Consider COVID-19 Related Need’, Sport NI is requesting the support of Recognised Governing Bodies of Sport (meaning that the governing body is named on the UK Recognition list, per the UK Recognition policy as implemented by the UK Sports Councils) in determining the actual financial need for the proposed Sports Recovery Fund across the sporting sector (governing bodies and their affiliated clubs and entities).
The need identified is based on net operating losses as a result of COVID-19 from 1 April 2021. Net operating losses must be costs that you have incurred from 1 April 2021 to 30th September 2021 and that you cannot pay for (we cannot consider costs incurred prior to 2021/2022). Net operating losses are defined as “an excess of expenses over income for operation of an organisation” or “an excess of deductions (for expenses from the operation of a business) over income from the operation of an organisation”. These COVID-19 related costs may have been incurred due to a reduction in sporting activities and associated membership income or increased costs directly related to COVID-19. We are also requesting a projection of your net operating losses for the period 1st October 2021 - 31st March 2022.
Thank you for taking the time to respond, the survey will take no longer than 20 minutes to complete, however some of the responses will require information to be collated in advance.
The closing date for responses is Monday 1st November at 12 noon.
