Survey on Teacher Professional Learning – CPD Academy

Overview

In June 2025, Education Minister Paul Givan announced an innovative Online Teacher Continued Professional Development (CPD) Academy in partnership with InnerDrive, a UK leader in cognitive science-based educational professional development.

The Teacher CPD Academy offers interactive, on-demand courses, expert insights, and practical resources grounded in cognitive science research. Topics include Cognitive Load Theory, Retrieval Practice and Metacognition, designed to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.

The Department is undertaking a short survey across all post-primary schools in Northern Ireland, both participating schools and schools who currently do not currently have access to the platform. This input will provide crucial insights when we consider how best to take forward this important programme.
