Curriculum-Led Programme Outdoor Provision (Trim Trails) in Primary Schools
Overview
Primary schools are invited to submit applications of interest to establish a Trim Trail in the grounds of their school funded through the Curriculum-led Capital Programme.
Why your views matter
A Trim Trail is an outdoor course of interconnected exercise equipment made from durable equipment like timber, such as balance beams, stepping stones, climbing walls and monkey bars to provide a fun and engaging way for children to get physical exercise and improve balance, strength, agility and coordination.
As part of the Curriculum-led Capital Programme, we are seeking to ascertain interest in extending provision to include the establishment of Trim Trails.
If your school already has a Trim Trail, it will not be eligible for the programme. Schools must also confirm they have sufficient space available in their grounds.
What happens next
All returns should be submitted by 28 November 2025.
Please note provision of Trim Trails will be assessed by the number of responses and the selection process is likely to include an element of random selection.
