Overview

The Department of Justice is seeking your views on proposals to reform rehabilitation periods in Northern Ireland to reflect changes in sentencing practices and developments in other jurisdictions. 

The Department encourages those with an interest to share their views on the issues raised by this consultation and to include any other relevant comments on the rehabilitation and resettlement of offenders.

We look forward to receiving your responses by Friday 5 March 2021 and to considering those responses in making decisions on the way forward.

 

What happens next

The Department will publish a summary of responses to the consultation once they have been collated and analysed.  All information will be handled in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

All responses will be considered to help the Department reach a final decision on the policy proposals for reforming rehabilitation periods contained in the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Northern Ireland) Order 1978.
