An Evaluation of Clinical Health Psychology Input into Intensive Care Unit Follow Up Clinics

Closed 17 Sep 2021

Opened 20 May 2021

Overview

The Clinical Health Psychology Service (CHP) joined the multidisciplinary ICU follow up clinics within the Northern Health and Social Care Trust for the first time in June 2020. This was in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and the expected rise in psychological needs of this population. The current project aims to evaluate this involvement to date. Specifically, it aims to scope the level of need for psychological input into these clinics, to consider the helpfulness of the input to date, and to identify potential additional needs that could be better met moving forward. Participants will include patients who were eligible for ICU follow up between June 2020 and May 2021. Data will be collected through the use of questionnaires, either completed online or on telephone call. Results from closed questions will be presented through the use of descriptive statistics. Data from the open-ended questions will be collated and analysed for recurring topics or ideas. The findings will be discussed.
