Overview

DfE recognises that we need to change, both within the Department and in how we support our staff, to make the NI Economy the best it can be for everyone who lives and works here. 

That is why we recently launched our major Organisational Development and Transformation (ODT) Programme, to ensure that, ‘By March 2024, DfE and its people are empowered and equipped to work effectively and collaboratively in support of the shared vision of the NI Economy’.

In other words, we want to think critically about our priorities as a Department and how we deliver them.  This will ensure we identify what we want to keep doing, and also where we could usefully make changes to how we do things. 

To achieve our objectives, it is important that, together, we identify the sort of culture, behaviours and working practices that will help us excel as a Department. 

Culture is not just about making sure we’re doing a good job.  It’s also about making DfE a great place to work, somewhere where each of us feels valued, trusted and supported. Culture connects us all to our workplace, whether this is in the office or working remotely.

To get this right, we want to listen and understand what our people think about culture. We are now inviting participation from all areas and grades in DfE to help us co-design the type of future organisational culture we should aim to have.
