Overview

The Department for Employment and Learning is fully committed to helping and supporting people to overcome barriers in their pursuit of their employment goals.  This strategy focuses on some of the greatest challenges faced by many individuals, groups and stakeholders in this area; helping people with disabilities to achieve and retain suitable employment in the labour market.

The Department also provides dedicated and enhanced support to enable people with disabilities to access educational and skills programmes and services. This includes a range of specialist in-work support options to ensure that people who have a disability can remain in employment.

This Consultation is on a Strategy for improving the job prospects and working careers of people with disabilities in Northern Ireland.

There are 21 questions and you are also offered the opportunity to to outline comments or proposals that you have for the Employment and Skills Strategy for People with Disabilities.  It will take approximately an hour to complete. You can save your responses as you go along and go back to completing your return later.

Your views are important to us and we will provide an analysis of the responses and comments at the beginning of 2016.

Why We Are Consulting

We want to get the opinions and views of people with disabilities and other interested parties from all over Northern Ireland about how we can best help disabled people find and keep suitable paid employment.

This strategy contains a number of proposals which will help us by working in partnership with others to address the difficulties and inequalities that people with significant disabilities are attempting to overcome.

We value your input because we would like to improve the job prospects and working careers of people with disabilities in Northern Ireland.
