DfC Draft Budget 21-22 consultation - Equality Impact Assessment Review

Overview

Section 75 of the NI Act 1998 requires the Department for Communities (hereinafter referred to as ‘the Department’), in carrying out its functions, to have due regard to the need to promote equality of opportunity between -

• people with different religious beliefs;
• people from different racial groups;
• people of different ages;
• people with different marital status;
• people with different sexual orientations;
• men and women generally;
• people with or without a disability;
• people with or without dependants; and
• people with different political opinions.

In addition, but without prejudice to the duty above, the Department should also have due regard to the desirability of promoting good relations between people with different religious beliefs, different political opinions or from different racial groups.

In order to comply with its obligations under section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998, the Department has undertaken an equality impact assessment on the proposed allocation to the Department as outlined in the Executive’s Draft Budget 2021-22.  The  Executive’s Draft Budget 2021-22 was announced by Finance Minister on 18 January 2021.
