TEST: COVID 19 Potatoes Support Scheme - Expression of Interest Form

Closed 31 Jul 2020

Opened 24 Jul 2020

On 30 June 2020, DAERA Minister, Edwin Poots MLA, announced that financial support of up to £1.6m would be made available to growers who specialise in supplying potatoes for processing to meet food service and hospitality industry needs. This funding would help offset losses incurred as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and closure of market outlets.

Support will be a payment per ton based on the loss in value of eligible potatoes during the period 17 March to 31 July 2020.

Losses are calculated as the difference between the reference price (£200/t) and sale price if sold at a loss, or residual value (stock feed value of £30/t) if still in store from 22 July 2020.

If you are satisfied that you meet the Scheme eligibility criteria, and require an inspection of eligible potatoes that you have still in store, you are invited to request an inspection visit by completing this expression of interest form by midnight 31st July 2020.

If you'd like to save and edit the form later then click 'Save and Come Back Later'.  By providing your e-mail address you will receive a weblink to your form.  This provides access to view and edit all your existing answers until you submit your completed form.  After you click 'Submit' you will no longer be able to go back and change any of your answers.  You MUST 'submit' your form by midnight 31st July 2020.

What happens next

Growers that meet the eligibility criteria should complete this ‘Expression of Interest’ form and return by 31st July 2020. This will initiate an inspection of eligible potatoes that are still in store to quantify the amount for residual value assessment.

Following inspection, a more detailed application process for support will be required to provide evidence of financial loss for invoice based sales (tons and value) of potatoes sold in the period 17 March – 31 July 2020. This application will be available for completion in August.
